My name is Kelli, not that that's of any importance. I am one of those girls that always loves new tips to look even prettier, but I always find tips, whether it be on the internet or in magazines, and I can't figure out where there are, where I found them, where I can find them again, without digging up every magazine I own or searching through my browser history. So I decided that it's time for a blog that's organized with everything all in one spot. (also: most of these tips are not my own and if you find any that aren't up but you think should be, please submit them) :)

For Limp or Fine Hair To add body to hair, reach for an unlikely beauty beverage: beer! The fermented drink contains generous supplies of yeast, which works to plump tired tresses, explains Cox. To Use: Mix 1/2 cup flat beer (pour beer into a container and let it sit out for a couple of hours to deplete carbonation) with 1 tsp light oil (sunflower or canola) and a raw egg. Apply to clean, damp hair, let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water. Or add flat beer only to a spray bottle and spritz onto dry hair. “When the liquid evaporates, the remaining protein residue (from the wheat, malt or hops) continues to strengthen and structure hair,” says Belkin. Treatments can be applied every other week.
For Itchy Scalp

To fight flakes—brought on by poor diet, stress and climate, among other factors—try a lemon juice and olive oil mixture in your hair. “The acidity in lemon juice helps rid your scalp of any loose, dry flakes of skin, while the olive oil moisturizes the [newly exposed] skin on your head,” says Cox.
To Use: Mix 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, 2 Tbsp olive oil and 2 Tbsp water, and massage into damp scalp. Let mixture sit for 20 minutes, then rinse and shampoo hair. Treatment can be applied every other week.
For Dull Hair

Styling products (as well as air pollution) can leave a film that both saps moisture and dulls shine—but dairy products like sour cream and plain yogurt can help reverse this damage. “Lactic acid gently strips away dirt while the milk fat moisturizes,” says Lisa Belkin, author of The Cosmetics Cookbook.
To Use: Massage 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt into damp hair and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, followed by cool water, then shampoo hair as you normally would. Treatment can be applied every other week.
For All Hair Types

“The [raw] egg is really the best of all worlds,” says Janice Cox, author ofNatural Beauty at Home. The yolk, rich in fats and proteins, is naturally moisturizing, while the white, which contains bacteria-eating enzymes, removes unwanted oils, she explains.
To Use: For normal hair, use the entire egg to condition hair; use egg whites only to treat oily hair; use egg yolks only to moisturize dry, brittle hair, Cox says. Use 1/2 cup of whichever egg mixture is appropriate for you and apply to clean, damp hair. If there isn’t enough egg to coat scalp and hair, use more as needed. Leave on for 20 minutes, rinse with cool water (to prevent egg from “cooking”) and shampoo hair. Whole egg and yolks-only treatments can be applied once a month; whites-only treatment can be applied every two weeks

I noticed that my normally clear skin was getting preyed upon by disgustingness in the form of blackheads and pimples, which are equally disgusting, if you asked me. I told my mom immediately that I’d like to try skinID by Neutrogena because you take a quiz and they recommend products for your special skin (since we’re all different). She said okay, so I got on the website and took the quiz they offer.
Once I did that, I went to Wal Mart and I picked out Neutrogena products that were quite similar to the ones listed on the website (basically the same price MINUS shipping and handling and the wait). I also got something designed special for my blackheads.
I recommend you do this. It’s the same as anything they can send you from the internet, basically. And if you have something that bothers you more than anything (like my blackheads), then get a product especially for that.
xo, Kelli. :)
I’m sorry I haven’t posted. I’ve just been really busy, too busy to find more tips. I’m sorry again, ladies, but once I’m done with my papers, I’ll do it again. :)
Hey guys, just wanted to share with you a picture of my hair … that I see in my dreamssssss! I’m working on it though. I found this Pooka Pure & Simple Nectar Hail Oil ($14) at Wholefoods and have been slathering it on, wrapping my hair in a braided bun, and sleeping with it. I love natural oil like BP loves money, so it’s no surprise. This contains lavender, peppermint and lemon oils - so it smells amazing while it’s deep-treating your scalp and hair. No preservatives - utterly pure and simple, like it says on the bottle. Comes complete with reassuring natural things floating in it - but don’t worry, they don’t get in your hair. I have fine blond hair, and I find a lot of products created with thicker or coarser hair types in mind not surprisingly make the best deep conditioning and hot oil treatments - I would recommend this for anyone. Does this: Leave-in or hot oil conditioning treatment for all scalp/hair types; smooths flyaways
Is this: Pooka Pure & Simple Nectar
Get this: Here (or win it!)
Size: 4 oz - it’s really quite big
Price: $14.00

We’re finally coming out of a long, dry winter and the evidence is all over our dry chapped lips! This is not good for all the bright-colored lips that are so en vogue this Spring. But luckily, we can all head over to our kitchens or grocery stores and tackle it head on. Here are two solutions, depending on how bad the damage is. If only there were chocolate in them…
Pretty Sweet (Lightweight Formula)
One teaspoon Brown Sugar
One teaspoon Honey
One teaspoon Olive Oil or Petroleum Jelly
Mix the brown sugar and honey together to create a paste and thickly coat your lips. Leave it on for a few minutes then start gently scrubbing with your finger until all the dead skin has been buffed off. Immediately dab on olive oil or lip balm to moisturize.
Oh So Coco (Extra Moisture Formula)
One teaspoon Sea Salt (you can save some that is left over from Lauren’s body scrub post!)
One teaspoon Coconut Butter or Coconut Oil (available at your local health food store)
Mix the two together then pat on your lips and gently scrub in circular motion until it’s as smooth as a baby’s…
Now your red lipstick will glide on as it should! Repeat daily until you feel your old pout is back.

You wake up one morning to the sound of birds chirping and the smell of waffles toasting downstairs and you think to yourself, it’s going to be another glorious day. Then you catch a glimpse in the mirror and do a double take: there’s a giant zit on your chin. WHAT?? That was NOT there when you went to bed last night. Don’t fret! This happened to me just the other day and I was hosting a dinner party that same evening. It happened to my sister on her wedding day. It happens to the best of us. Here’s how to tackle it properly:
photos: sephora Welcome to first period at make-up school! Today’s subject is brushes for foundation and powder and if you have any questions, post them to our Facebook page and I’ll try to answer all of them! With all types of foundations, remember to start at the center of your face (where you typically need the most coverage) and work the product outwards to the perimeter. Also, the best companion tool for brushes is your fingers so don’t forget to blend with them as you use your brushes. And please don’t forget your neck! Foundation (Liquid): You’ll want a synthetic, densely-packed flat but wide brush to effortlessly cover more space when you’re in a hurry in the mornings. Look for ones with nylon or Taklon bristles for the smoothest application. Foundation (Cream): If you use a cream foundation, you’ll want a 100% natural bristle brush so it deposits less product as you swirl it all over, giving you a flawless airbrushed effect. Natural bristles are critical for building coverage without streaking. Foundation (Mineral Powder): This can be a synthetic or natural bristle powder brush, but look for one with a plump shape designed for the swirling motion we do when applying minerals. Concealer (Undereye): I love a flat synthetic concealer brush for covering dark circles because you can really “lay down” the product by using the side of the brush. The other component to look for is a tapered edge because this helps you avoid clumping during application. The synthetic bristles will pick up less product so your coverage will last longer (the thicker you apply it, the more likely it will crease and cake). Concealer (Blemishes): Look for a pointed and tapered concealer brush made ofsynthetic bristles so you can apply it precisely on top of any kind of blemish (pimple, scar, broken capillary, etc.) without touching the surrounding skin. Practice mini-swirling motions gently on top of the blemish then lightly blend the perimeters with your ring finger. For a quick refresher on covering a glaring pimple, click here. Powder (All-over): Look for a big, fluffy natural bristle powder brush for situations when you’re going to be on camera (college TV channel, YouTube, your friend’s music video) or photographed under brutal lights (yearbook photos, weddings, sorority formals). This afternoon I will use one of these on Lauren before she walks out on the Chelsea Lately Show because the lighting on talk shows is criminal and she will not have a shiny face under my watch! Powder (T-Zone): Use an eyeshadow blending brush made with natural hair bristles as a powder brush just for the areas that tend to shine: between your brows, around and on the tip of your nose, your upper lip and your chin. This allows the rest of your face to glow and breathe. See you next class for Blush & Bronzing! XO Amy Nadine
Today’s tip it all about using yarn (it works with thin pieces of lace too!) to create a pretty messy hairstyle. Just tie the yarn around your head like a headband, then weave long piece into a ponytail. Last, pin the loose ponytail up into a bun. It’s that simple. Plus… good news, the messier you make this hairstyle, the cuter it looks! This look was originally inspired by these gorgeous fashion photos. Emma is modeling the look and you can see more photos of her outfit from today on her blog.
